A Day in the Life of a Packaging Designer
Join Nick from Packaging School and Morrisette Packaging for a caffeine-fueled, deadline-driven dive into a designer’s day—coffee, collaboration, creative challenges, self-doubt, and triumph in packaging design.

Hey everyone, Nick Riedl here from the Packaging School. For this Learning of the Month, we’re taking a wild ride into the world of packaging design. And who better to guide us than our awesome friends over at Morrisette Packaging!

Now, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a packaging designer—thriving on coffee, deadlines, and innovation—you’re in for a treat! Morrisette Packaging has put together a fun, documentary-style look at the life of a designer, and trust me, it’s as entertaining as it is insightful.

So, sit back, grab your favorite brew, and let’s dive into the untamed world of creativity and collaboration with the folks at Morrisette Packaging:

The packaging designer—one of nature's most versatile and elusive creatures.

The designer's day begins with copious amounts of nature's finest stimulant—black coffee.

Known for inhabiting the most eclectic environments, the packaging designer thrives under the pressure of looming deadlines and the constant demand for innovation. The designer sips the roasted beans' nectar.

Here we witness a common occurrence that the designer attempts to avoid, but knows his survival depends upon—social interaction. Contrary to instinct, the designer thrives in collaborating with other members of his species. The desire for innovation and collaboration outweighs the desire for quiet isolation.

The designer's brain delights in the challenge of helping others achieve their highest level of success. The designer's counterpart needs a solution, and they need it fast. The designer's brain delights in problem solving. It seems the time to shine has come.

But the designer must be careful not to let his jubilation carry him away. His natural predator haunts the outskirts of his habitat. An evolutionary anomaly, the designer is the only creature known to be his own natural predator.

A ubiquitous supply of self-doubt and second guessing weave their way into his, up until now, undestructive inspiration. Salvation arrives in the form of a kind word from a new acquaintance, “Atta boy.” The job is done; collaboration is complete.

The designer returns to his den. The designer dives back into an endless stream of memes and message boards in search of inspiration.

A fresh sip of the roasted beans’ nectar, and the circle of life continues—all in the day of a packaging designer.
