Intro to Solidworks for Packaging Design

An introductory course that provides an overview of the functions and capabilities of Solidworks, a tool used widespread in many packaging professions, from sales executives to engineers.

What you will learn

This is a university-structured course centered around using Solidworks to develop packaging systems. The objective of this course is to bring practice and application to the fundamental tools of Solidworks within the context of packaging. Access to Solidworks software is not included in this course—students are expected to have an active license to the software.

Course Objectives

Interpret the fundamentals of Solidworks as it applies to packaging design
Explore the main functions of Solidworks for packaging at an introductory level
Apply teachings to create mockups of various packaging substrates and types
Complete assignments to further develop Solidworks abilities and implement course material across a multitude of sectors within the packaging industry
Demonstrate the skill necessary to generate assemblies that will test the functionality of packaging design
Generate simulations to understand how different packaging designs will translate to real-world uses and performance
