Packaging Foundations

An introduction to the role of various stakeholder groups in packaging development, as well as the industry at large. No matter your role or current position within your company, this course will equip you with the thought process required to be an impactful stakeholder in the packaging development process.

What you will learn

Packaging is a complex process that must be seen as part of a greater system, where each activity has an impact on the final package. Departments from marketing and sales to legal and warehousing all have unique demands when it comes to packaging design. Learning the interconnectedness of each department is vital, making it a strong focus within this course.

Explain the role of packaging in the evolution of society by listing major packaging innovations throughout history.

Identify the major stakeholders who influence the packaging development process.

List product considerations that impact packaging.
Recognize the standard manufacturing process for each fundamental packaging material.
Appraise the sustainability of various packaging materials and processes.
Identify the fundamental packaging materials and types.
