Why is unboxing so popular? In this episode, we unbox a package from our friends at NEURO and then our very own Nick takes a deep dive into the unboxing movement. Why is unboxing so popular?
In this episode of the Packaging School Show, Episode 24, we take a look at the phenomenon of unboxing videos!

To do so, we start with our own attempt at unboxing a product we received from Nuero. Nuero is a "functional gum & mints" company with a product line enhancing everything from restful sleep to energy and focus. They sent us a box of goods for this video to help us explore the unboxing experience and its impact on consumer perception.

Nuero's box included an informational brochure, a business card, a sticker, two packs of gum, and a pack of energy mints. The components were packaged in a small corrugated box that included Nuero branding.

The search term "Unboxing" is one of the most popular on YouTube, and part of the appeal of unboxing videos is that they offer us a way to feel part of a celebration, almost like Christmas morning! The unboxing experience is heavily related to the experience of opening a present. It is no longer good enough to ensure the safe delivery of a product, brands must craft an unboxing experience in order to connect with consumers, especially in this eCommerce age. Brands like Nuero are finding ways to meet this consumer expectation.
