This course is designed to provide basic information about common dangerous goods transported in the automotive industry. It will cover the many requirements associated with transporting dangerous goods. These requirements are defined within mode-specific transportation regulations. Requirements include but are not limited to training, classification, packaging, marking, labeling, and communication—which will all be discussed in this course.

MEET JOSH GALVARINO
Josh Galvarino began his career in dangerous goods transportation with Raytheon Missile Systems for 4 years. He worked as a packaging engineer, designing numerous packaging and tooling solutions for parts identified as dangerous goods. While with Raytheon, he was also responsible for developing packaging work instructions in compliance with relevant military standards and dangerous goods transportation laws. In 2016, Josh received the “Up and Coming Award” at Raytheon for stellar performance in both packaging and process design.Currently, he works for Mercedes-Benz U.S. International as the Dangerous Goods Transportation Lead for North American parts distribution centers.
- Approximately 8 years of experience in dangerous goods packaging engineering and transportation compliance
- Active member of dangerous goods transportation committees including the Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles (COSTHA) as well the North American Automotive HazMat Action Committee (NAAHAC)
- Hold current training for dangerous goods shipping by road (USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe), international marine and international air
- Constant knowledge gaining and sharing
- Strong passion to drive compliant and safe transport of dangerous goods
- Received both a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Packaging Science from Clemson University

* Taking the GENERAL AWARENESS PACKAGING SPECIALIST TRAINING course alone, does not fully certify one as a hazmat packaging specialist/shipper.
The other three classes (taken in addition to the GA course) do satisfy the requirements to certify the student as a hazmat packaging specialist/shipper for the respective mode of transport upon successful completion.
