What you will learn

This course is designed to provide basic information about common dangerous goods transported in the automotive industry. It will cover the many requirements associated with transporting dangerous goods. This course starts with an introduction to the automotive packaging industry and provides the fundamental knowledge necessary to get you up to speed in this vast sector of packaging. We’ll overview the packaging processes involved in packaging production, overseas distribution, and after sales operations. Learners will then review dangerous goods requirements that are defined within mode-specific transportation regulations. Requirements include but are not limited to training, classification, packaging, marking, labeling, and communication—which will all be discussed in this course. The goal of this course is to successfully utilize the learning to better apply hazmat processes within your organization.

Course Objectives

Gain an understanding of the importance of automotive packaging and its supply chain
Interpret categories of production components
Classify overseas shipments
Read and interpret knocked down export methods
Understand and differentiate between production, after sales, and overseas packaging challenges
Discuss mode specific transportation regulations and requirements
Differentiate between dangerous goods (DG) and hazardous materials (HAZMAT)
Review common automotive dangerous goods
Be able to name and classify hazardous materials for transportation
Become compliant with DOT, ICAO, IATA, IMO
Design and approve packaging specifications and labeling for dangerous goods
Utilize learning to better apply hazmat processes within your organization
